High Failure Rate

For my first production run of 500 pieces, I had  a 95% mother board failure rate, the board uses the PAN1326 for Bluetooth, BLE communication. Twenty-three boards were tested and 22 boards failed our current consumption test.  Engineering removed parts from the board, until the current consumption returned to normal; after removing the PAN1326, the boards passed the current consumption test.

    1. Panasonic tests 100% all RF Modules, -- including current consumption -- so the possibility of a catastrophic failure of such magnitude -- 95% -- due to a problem with Panasonic's module is essentially zero.

    2. The problem described is typical of overheating the module during board production.

    3. Panasonic will conduct a free of charge failure analysis for any qualified customer purchasing in production quantities. Return 5-10 pieces (loose, not on boards) for testing.  This process can normally be competed in 15 working days. 

    4. If time is of the essence, it is highly recommended that you work with your CM to ensure that Panasonic's specified solder profile is being followed.  Conduct a trial-production run of 10-20 pcs and  re-test.  Panasonic can begin the root cause analysis process in parallel.

    5. Contact your sales representative for an address to return the defective modules for analysis.
